Benefits of using a fiberglass enclosure for protection of UltraBurn® Combustion Catalyst Systems pump include the ability to choose from a wide range of sizes, chemical resistance, and ease of modification

The Situation

Emissions Technology Inc. (ETI) currently builds the UltraBurn® Combustion Catalyst Systems for use in off-road diesel engines in a wide variety of end-use applications. This includes construction, mining, oil and gas drilling and production, marine, rail transportation, agriculture, military and decentralized power generation.

The Challenge

Emissions Technology originally selected a manufacturer of a yellow polycarbonate watertight protective case to protect their system, but discovered they did not have all the sizes needed. They became unhappy with their selection after noticing some corrosion from the chemicals used and experiencing difficulty in making modifications. ETI’s enclosure analysis featured several important criteria:

• They required an enclosure manufacturer that offered a wide range of sizes because their systems vary from
customer to customer.
• The enclosure must be available in the proper yellow color to meet safety requirements.
• It had to be easy to modify the enclosures because their catalyst systems required cutouts for several connections.

The Solution

The fiberglass enclosures provided by Stahlin have proven to effectively withstand exposure to the harsh environment and the occasional leak of chemical fluids that their previous options could not.

In addition, Stahlin’s J, RJ, and N Series met one of the most important criteria for ETI’s systems: a variety of sizes.

Together they contain all the dimensional requirements to fit their systems for housing the catalyst pumps. The enclosures can be molded in yellow at the factory, reducing the need for painting.

Stahlin has also taken the burden of modifying the enclosures off ETI’s small staff by conducting all of the modifications required.
